Literature Text

Tortoise shells and broken  eggs.
"They couldn't put Humpty together again."
Well I have, and he's sitting on my shelf,
Adorned to me and to no one else
But fairytales seem to run up short,
So this is where my story starts.

In the forest so deep and green
Faeries came to dance with me.
With my cloak of Red and Raven,
I took the path that few had taken
And stumbled upon predator's eyes
But I was not fooled by this wolf's disguise,
For he wore his soul upon his sleeve
And just like me he was inbetween.
Neither dark nor light, in shadows he strayed,
Though, forever, the night was more enticing than the day
But neither infernos of fires nor boulders of ice,
Could ever lure him back into the night...

It was between the trees that he caught my breath,
So I stumbled along and blessed myself
But took a sidewards glance to look behind,
Only to realise that wolf had my eyes...

Amber irises of a blood red lust,
Singing as the world fell into dust.
Midnight shadows danced around him.
In myself - that's where I found him.
Wolves always were my favourite animals... Often misunderstood, there is more to fear from ourselves than wrongly depicted monsters in fairytale books.
Again the preview is from google images, depicting canis lupus - grey wolf.
